Dia Mirza was born as Dia Handrich on 9 December, 1981 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. She did her schooling from Vidyaranya High School, which is partly based on the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti and later Nasr School, in Khairtabad. She attended Stanley Junior College and acquired graduation in Bachelors of Arts from Andhra Pradesh Open University, Hyderabad. As per the latest reports, Dia Mirza will play the role of Sanjay Dutt’s wife Maanayata in the actor’s biopic. The film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. She said, “I am really happy that I am doing the Sanjay Dutt biopic and that’s what I was really aiming to be a part of just credible work. And I hope that these choices as scary as they can be because it’s not easy to say ‘no’ to work will translate into all that I believe I offer, and do as an artist.”

Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha got married at a farmhouse in Chattarpur, Delhi on 18th October 2014, in the presence of family and close friends. Dia Mirza was born to Frank Handrich, who was a German graphic and industrial fair designer and architect from Munich. Her mother, Deepa is a Bengali Hindu, who is an interior designer, landscaper. She is currently doing social work as a volunteer to help alcoholics and addicts. Dia’s parents were separated when she was six years old and lost her father when she was nine. Later her mother married Ahmed Mirza, who died in 2004. She adopted her stepfather’s surname Mirza and then adopted the last name of her birth-father and became Dia Mirza Handrich.
Dia Mirza started her career as a Marketing executive for a media firm. Simultaneously, she did modeling for print and TV commercials for brands like Lipton, Emami and many more. She entered bollywood with the moive “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein”. Apart from grabbing public attention through movies, she rose up high for her social works. She has also received an “IIFA 2012 Green Award” for her contribution towards green environment. At a very tender age of 16, she joined a job with Sriven Multi-Tech in Hyderabad. This job paved her way to modeling assignments.

The popular actress Dia Mirza was a second runner up at Femina Miss India, 2000 and was finally sent to Miss Asia Pacific, where she succeeded. She has won the Miss Asia Pacific title on 3 December, 2000 in Manila, Philippines and became the first Indian contestant to win this title in 27 years. She completed the hat-trick of winning international pageants in the year 2000.
